New Cleaner Wanted

Introduction

The vacancy arises because of the retirement of our present cleaner, who has fulfilled this role for over 40 years. We would like to appoint one, or maybe two people on a job share basis, in time for a short handover period to take place. The idea of a job share might suit applicants who have another job, and would allow us more continuous cover of the tasks during holiday breaks or other absences .

We anticipate that duties will take 4 to 6 hours per week and we need these to be spread over a minimum of two days in each week to ensure that the Hall is checked frequently, our current cleaner goes in most weekdays for a short time. Access is determined by when the facilities are booked for hire, but the successfully candidate(s) will have access to view our booking system on-line. Normal hours can be flexible to suit both the candidate and the access to the building. Additional time is occasionally necessary and will be paid at the standard rate.

The rate is £15 per hour, which will be paid gross by Bank Transfer, on a self-employed basis. The Village hall does not presently have the facility to process payroll, Income Tax nor NI contributions, so it is the responsibility of the successful candidate to manage this aspect. This condition may be negotiable.

We would not expect candidates to undertake maintenance tasks they were not confident or competent to carry out, defects or other problems should be reported to a committee member to be assessed and a solution implemented.

All equipment and cleaning products are supplied, and detailed information about each area of the Hall will be given, for example, the main hall floor has to be kept generally dry and a manufacturer approved cleaning solution is used when necessary.

We would consider an arrangement with a cleaning company or contractor, either as a short term contract, or an ongoing one.
